Jay,
These are some deep, realistic points you're making. I think that we can't focus on where it's going, because we'll fail to enjoy the moment.
Once this changes, it won't be the same for some of us, and some of us will adapt. Either way, you've got something big going here. I mean ANT is revolutionary, you've made an impact on videoblogging and helped mold what it is. That won't change.
Whats the next level? More people involvement?

This is why we need to teach people. We need lots of people creating to provide an alternative to the big media that will be here soon.

So if it does get "co-opted", does that mean that the conversations will stop? Wouldn't that enlarge the conversation? Blogs have been co-opted to some extent as has the internet but it hasn't stopped the conversation, the public speech. If anything it brings new people in who subsequently.. Actually, screw the text.. Here is my response: http://www.walking-productions.com/slop/001118.html

I don't think that the present crowd is interested in watching your media mode self destruct under the boot of corporations. It is bound to happen and our community conversations will squirm out to other media avenues that are unconqured and beyond their reach for a short time (repeat infinity)...so don't fret. Thanks for the indepth thoughts.

Jay,
Felt your joy & your pain in this.
Share your trepidation but ultimately it's a waste of time to worry: what will be, will be.
You do as much as a human can do to institute and maintain the groundwork for an environment wherein the best we have to offer as humans is supported.
You lead by example. The converted will follow. Others will come to understand. The rest won't hear you until it's said in the way they've been trained to hear it.
C'est la vie.
It's good to be reminded of potential pitfalls.
Thanks for everything.
