VIDEO: a story that isnt true
Here's a video for week two of the Semanal project, where we are posting one video a week for 2008. Check out everyone's work and join in. No rules, just encouragement and often madness. Music by: William Zeitler (playing glass harmonica) "The Fixed Stars"

I really like this one. It felt like a Sci-Fi film of the present!
We are the Twilight Zone.

hey, aren“t you afraid insects become bigger?

Love this, it's one of my favorite Semanal videos so far, particularly like the macro shot of the fly amongst arm hair and the great ambient music that accompanies it. Look forward to week 3.

Awesome Jay. My favorite shot was the one of the faucet. The bug shots were great yet creepy!

One of the best. Of the most beautiful and haunting. And it's only week two. You teach me many things, Sire.

This was beautiful...."random" images creating a story of our times by being stiched together. And yay for using an Utne cover! (I <3 Utne)
The music really made it, and was beautiful on its own...who is it?

whups, scratch my question about the music. wasn't looking. : )

Wish I could hear the music, but love it even without sound.

the sound should work fine.
Here's how I found the music. I was reading a scifi novel by Bruce Sterling. He mentions this instrument called the Glass Harmonica created by Ben Franklin. Supposedly it drove some people crazy because its sound is so clear. So I look up "glass harmonica" on wikipedia. There is an example song to hear what the instrument sounds like. I see it's by the brilliant William Zeitler. I go to his website where you can download his songs for free. He just asks for a donation. I email him for permission to use his music. He says sure as long as I give him credit. What a great new ecology we have.

This one hits home jay, and after reading your last comment that you were reading a sci-fi. Alienating in a good way.

These just get better and better. This has such an intense presence and sense of wonder. Rephotographed TV sports and macro insects revealed as gleaming parts of the whole constellation.

This was really powerful in an odd way - the video mainly seemed to be a study in very interesting stuff that we usually don't even notice, and the music made it a meditation on these things.
