VIDEO: flying_over_LA
Look how insane LA looks at night as you fly into the city.
We built it piece by piece.
This is for week 7 of Semanal.
Music: Pachebel's Canon In D (Glass Harmonica). See how they play the crystals here. Kick ass.

Way to not get caught with a "personal electronic device" during landing ;)

Good point Nathan. I've taken video while landing and take-off. Never got caught but always worrying.

wow. I've flown into and out of LA at least twenty times in my life, and I think this is the best view I've ever had of the city.
by the way, I've recently started following your work and I'm learning a lot. thanks to you (and Ryan) for making what you do so public!

LA in the firmament. A trillion stars are out tonight and Jay was there to catch the poetry. One of the best.

yeah....i think those electronic warnings are a joke. like no liquids on the plane. Im sure their motto is "better safe than sorry". I just had to get this view since it looks like Blade Runner.

That was utterly beautiful, and great choice of music. These days, when I see something like that, instead of thinking, "wow, the lonely beauty of the post-industrial hinterlands" as I might have done in the past, the first thing that comes to mind is "apocalypse." I think that says something about me...

agreed. when i see landscapes like this, I think how beautiful. too bad it wont last. it'll change.

Ugh. What a reminder. I hate LA for it's impersonal expansiveness. I remember the ill feeling in my gut when the plane descended out of the clouds and the ground was illuminated for as far as the eye could see.
Cool music choice though :)

it reminded me of flying into LA last Nov for the winnies, I remember walking on Hollywood Blvd that night we had left straight from work to the airport and flown to LA and I just remember thinking, "a few hours ago I was in Cincinnati and now I am all the way accross the country, this is so cool"....sometime I think we forget how cool it is to actually be able to fly....

Hi Jay, this is a very beautiful video. and its so your style, even if it is another scale, it makes me think about relativity and fractal stuff.
