How to make a Videoblog FREE: 8 easy steps
A new girl, Courtney, has joined our videoblogging group.
She doesnt even have a blog and she's confused.
So I wrote up a way to videoblog for free.
1. Get a blog.
Go to Blogger because it's free and easy.
Im sure there are others as well.
Sign up and set up your blog.
This takes time...becasue you must think of a name...set up the design...and get a feel for it.
Post a couple text messages just to see how it works.
2. Download the CC Publisher.
Mac or PC, just download the application.
Drag it into your Applications folder.
Takes about 2 minutes.
With this tool, you will upload video to the Internet Archive...who will store and serve your video for free.
3. Go out and record some video.
This is the difficult part.
What are you going to record?
Yourself? Other people? An event?
How personal and crazy do you get? (very)
So you need a camera for this.
Just remember that this isnt some epic you need to make.
Just a short 1-3 minute video.'
Show us something you either hate or love.
You be on camera.
4. Edit/Compress/Export your video.
I know that editing video is probably pretty new for most people, but it is very easy.
If you have a MAC, go here to learn.
If you have a PC, go here.
Ask your friends to help.
Someone you know, probably knows how to edit video.
Buy em lunch.
5. Post with the CC Publisher that you've downloaded.
Just open the CC Publisher tool and follow the directions.
Could not be easier.
You'll need to create a free account at the Archive...but the Publisher will walk you through this.
6. Wait 24-36 hours.
It takes this long for a curator at the Archive to approve your post.
Presently, they dont send an email when it's up.
So go check your account...and see where your video lives.
It will have its own URL...that's the web address.
7. Post the video to your blog.
Now your ready to unleash your video on the world.
Create a post in your blog, type in a message, and post your video.
How?
You got to insert a little HTML.
Copy and past this...
<a href="http://www.YOUR VIDEO.org">CLICK HERE TO WATCH</a>
The underlined part is where you insert your video's URL. Now publish the blog post.
8. Now tell people to watch youre video.
A good way is to let Videoblog.info know you have a video.
You can either "ping" the site using trackbacks.
Or you can just quickly send this info here.
What this does is add your video to our list of new work, adds you in our RSS feed that people subscribe to, and lets other videobloggers know what youre doing.
-----------------------------
You now have a videoblog and you didnt pay a cent.
I realize that this is some work...
and you got to wait a day or two to actaully post the video...but it's possible.
And its how I and others do it.
Someone will probably very soon put out a service that makes all this very very easy.
You'll pay a fee, but it'll be worth the convenience.
In the meantime...try these steps.
On a side note...
Writing this how-to, I see that a person must bring something to the table.
For someone completely new, it's just plain difficult.
Either you don't know how to use a blog, or download software, or use a
videocamera, or get the video in your computer, or edit, or insert
html.
One missing link screws it all up.
we need an all-in-one videoblogging tool.
Must edit, compress, post.
Just commit and figure it out.
It's how I and others have done it. One frustrating night of nothing working...teaches you everything.
Put video of your life on the web.
You can always ask me.
nicely put, however -
CC Publisher still not happening for me
and im pretty savy with this whole vlog thing now
also, stop telling people the MUST put themselves in the videos they post!!!
a vlog can be very interesting and personal without someone showing their mug on camera.

It looks like CC publisher/Archive dot org content you upload has to also fit the terms of CC licences. so, video which uses appropriated materials (without cc licenses) probably cannot be stored there. I've been reading a lot of their information and am not entirely clear but I would be careful to check all terms first.

you must do it.
we all think about ourselves all the time..so be on camera.
soon you get bored with yourself...and turn it around on the world.
Its true.

After a long search, I finally found your site. My granny used to say, that you must never give up to reach a certain aim.
So keep on going like I did it recently.
