VIDEO: Marc Canter explains OurMedia till now
I went to Blogher this weekend with Ryan.
Saw Marc Canter and asked him about OurMedia and the Internet Archive.
It's been slow and slightly screwy lately.
So here's a video of our info exchange.
For those of you who dont know, Marc Canter and JD Lasica started Ourmedia.org in January.
They got in running in April(?)....and have helped the Videoblogging Community bootstrap itself into existence by offering free hosting of our videos through the Internet Archive.
Ourmedia has gone through a lot of growing pains in the last 4 months. Crashes, slow downloads, missing media, etc. But it is geting better and better. You must understand that other than the free servers that the Archive is providing, it's all been done by volunteers and the programmers that Marc has hired with his own money.
Marc Canter is one of those guys that has a strong personality that everyone has an opinion about.
To me, he has always been goofy and open, always wanting to make personal media more and more of a reality.
Good Stuff!
Particulary the message of doing it your self!
Most Inspiring!
Your the man Jay!

Ya look beautiful that close up, Marc!
Good seeing you again in person at BlogHer, Jay. Just for the historical record, Marc and I began working on Ourmedia in July 2004, and we publicly launched the alpha of Ourmedia on March 21. :~)
I'll be talking with Brewster Kahle tomorrow and will tell him of your congrats ...

it's really good to connect a person who is doing a lot of the work with our media, it helps remind us what a difficult task it must be ... also, the fact he was such an entertaining character, made it even better!

Very interesting interview. I like people who are raw and blunt and opinionated. They are very "real".
